Through His obedient sacrifice on the cross and resurrection, Jesus Christ has provided the way to enter into the Holy of Holies and come into the Fathers presence. We spend time to give thanks and wait upon the Lord, sometimes with background worship music and sometimes in silence, because it's good to be still in His presence, and know that He is God. The more time we give to seeking Him the more we are able to discern His voice leading us forward; remember, you can be as intimate with God as you currently choose to be.
Psalm62 v 1 - My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.
