How to get saved

Why you need to be saved

You were born physically alive but spiritually dead.  This means that when you were born your soul/spirit is connected to your physical body but your soul/spirit is not connected to Gods spirit, hence physically alive but spiritually dead.  The reason for this was because of the consequence of one mans actions - Adam.  Adam was the first man to be created by God and was made physically & spiritually alive, so his soul/spirit was connected to Gods spirit.  However Adam disobeyed Gods only command and as a result death entered the world; his soul/spirit was cut off from Gods spirit and so he died spiritually; later he died physically.

To die spiritually means to be separated from God.  To die physically means to be separated from your body.

From that point all of Adams descendents (blood line) were born in the same state, physically alive but spiritually dead.  As a result we have all learned to live independently from God to get what we need, subsequently we go around hurting ourselves and each other.  We know that we are physically alive yet we also know that there is something missing in our lives, what's missing is spiritual life; for our soul/spirit to be connected to Gods spirit; to be like Adam was in the beginning.  We long for security, significance and acceptance in this world, we long to escape from the unknown of death and gain eternal life, to know that when we die we will be assured of being with Him in Heaven forever.

God the Father is just and He is also love.  He saw what would happen to us if we died both spiritually and physically, that we would be separated from all life, from Him eternally, He also saw that there was nothing we could do to become perfect and save ourselves so because He loves us He decided to intervene and sent His one and only Son to us, as a man, to teach us what God the Father is like and to give us life, to save us.

Gods son is Jesus Christ and the Bible gives Him the title of the last Adam.  Where spiritual and physical life was lost by the first Adam, the last Adam, Jesus, did what was necessary for us to receive the life we we're born without.  Gods judgement of sin is death, He is just and cannot overlook our sins, however Jesus lived a perfect life and never sinned, Jesus offered His own perfect physical and spiritual life to take the punishment we should receive on our behalf.  He died physically on the Cross and gave His perfect life as an offer to pay the price that we should pay.

Because Jesus never sinned, death had no power over Him (either Physically or Spiritually) and so Jesus was therefore raised back to Life; and His perfect blood offered as sacrifice for us, once for all.  After Jesus completed the job He came to do and then spending some time with His disciples, He was raised again into Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father and all authority and power in Heaven and on Earth has now been given to Him.

The first Adams disobedient blood (death) runs in all of us, likewise the last Adams perfect blood (life) is available to all of us and we can receive it by believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord.  Believing that He is the Son of God and putting our trust in Him to save us and give us Life.

In essence to surrender our lives to Him in exchange for His free gift of eternal Life to us.

                 How to become Saved

God knows our thoughts, He is looking for those who will believe in His Son Jesus Christ to be their Saviour from death to life by what He has already accomplished on the Cross.

If you want to be saved from death and receive full and eternal life then the Bible says you must be "Born again" and this is accomplished when you "believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord"; so pray this prayer out loud as a declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.

“Dear Jesus, I thank you for dying for me on the Cross, I recognise that I have done wrong in my life and hurt myself and others, I recognise that I need the life you came to give and I ask you to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with your blood.  I now choose to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God and I ask you to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life.  I believe and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I ask you to write my name in the Lambs book of Life.

Jesus, I thank you that I am now saved and that you have taken me from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light, please fill me with your Holy Spirit and lead me in the Life you came to give, I ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

If you have prayed that prayer in sincerity then God has heard you and you are now His child, you're saved, welcome.  We recommend that you start to spend time talking to Jesus and reading the Bible.  As you do He will reveal more of Himself to you; perhaps start with the book of John.  We also recommend that you tell someone of your decision and start to meet with other believers in a local Christian community.

Welcome, you made it, now go and fulfil your destiny in Jesus Name.
